Mark Toews

A native of British Columbia, Mark Toews holds the ARCT diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto and a B.Mus degree from the University of British Columbia where he studied with Frederick Geoghegan. He was awarded a Canada Council Arts Grant and attended the University of Michigan where he earned the M.Mus and DMA degrees in organ performance as a student of Robert Glasgow. Dr. Toews has served in a number of Canadian churches including Shaughnessy Heights United in Vancouver; Dominion-Chalmers United in Ottawa, and since 1991 has been Director of Music and Organist at Lawrence Park Community Church in Toronto where he oversees an active choral and instrumental program and is Artistic Director of the Fridays @ 8 Concert Series. He has recorded Variations Plus on the Florence Grand Casavant Organ at Lawrence Park as well as several CDs with the Lawrence Park choirs. As a recitalist he has presented concerts in major centers in Canada, the United States and England. Mark Toews was National President of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (2002-2004) and is chairing the Planning Committee for the 2009 RCCO Centennial Organ Festival being held in Toronto June 28 – July 2, 2009.
