Matthew Coons
Winner of the 2008 Toronto Centre Competition for Young Organists, Matthew Coons is starting his third year in organ performance at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Music where he studies organ with Patricia Wright. This past summer he was one of four finalists in an International Improvisation Competition at the 2008 RCCO Convention in Kitchener. He was also a prizewinner at the biannual Osborne Organ Competition held in Whitby, Ontario. He is an Associate of the Royal Canadian College of Organists and, since September 2006, has been the organ scholar at Metropolitan United Church, Toronto.
