Dr. Andreas Sieling
Andreas Sieling was born in Oldenburg, in 1963, and from the age of fourteen has dedicated himself to church music. He read Musicology, German language & literature, and Media & Communication in Berlin before he went to Robert Schumann University, Düsseldorf, where he became a student of the renowned organist Professor Hans-Dieter Möller. He finished his academic education with an Honour's Diploma in Halle/Saale and gained his PhD with a dissertation on the Berlin church musician August Wilhelm Bach (1796-1869). Numerous concerts have taken him all over Europe, and his recordings include CDs as well as Radio and TV productions. His wide-ranging activities also cover contributing to scholarly publications and the editing of lesser known 19th century music - his volume on "19th Century Berlin Organ Music" was awarded the German Music Edition Prize. Since 1999 Professor Andreas Sieling has been teaching Organ Playing and has also given courses in Organ Theory and Methodology as well as Historical Performance Practice in Organ Playing at the College of Music, Berlin University of the Arts. In 2005 he was appointed cathedral organist of Berlin Cathedral's Grand Sauer Organ.
