Sarah Svendsen

Hailing from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Sarah Svendsen was first introduced to the organ at age 15 through beginner scholarships from the Halifax RCCO, studying with organist Wayne Rogers. After one year of study, she received a silver medal for the highest mark in Atlantic Canada for her RCM grade 7 organ exam. The following year Sarah spent 10 months in Denmark as a Rotary International Exchange Student, throughout her stay studying with organist Randi Mortensen at the world-famous Odense Domkirke Cathedral. In September 2008, Sarah began pursuing her Bachelor of Music in organ performance at the University of Toronto, studying under organist Dr. Patricia Wright, the Minister of Music at Metropolitan United Church. Sarah acted as the Junior Organ Scholar for Metropolitan from September 2008 until September 2010 when she assumed the position of Organ Scholar.
