Hanne Becker21

Hanné Becker is an organist, composer and soprano with a passion for sacred music, finding herself particularly drawn to the stylus fantasticus style of organ playing, as well as the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. She recently graduated from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland) with a Master of Arts in Performance. She studied organ with Prof. Wolfgang Zerer (Hamburg), composition with Prof. Johannes Menke and harpsichord / basso continuo with Andrea Scherer. In September 2017 she will begin a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Organ Performance degree in the studio of Kevin Komisaruk at the University of Toronto. Hanné also enjoys teaching and has served in many liturgical roles during her musical career (as organist and choir accompanist). She has had extensive choral background, both as a soprano and as an accompanist, having accompanied choirs and soloists both in Switzerland and in Canada. Having been a finalist in the Great Canadian Hymn Competition II (2013), Hanné continued to compose music in Basel specifically focusing on Renaissance counterpoint. Her early 16th Century style organ piece "Aus tiefer Not schrey ich zu Dir" had its world premiere in the concert at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis during the Klangwelt Renaissance III project week (2016).
